How to freeze the top tier of your wedding cake

Many couples choose to follow the tradition of saving the top tier of the wedding cake to enjoy on their first anniversary. Savoring a slice of the wedding cake on your anniversary will provide you with an unmatched opportunity to reminisce about the many memories created on your big day. Here are some tips on freezing and tasting your reserved cake top.

  1. After the reception refrigerate the top tier overnight to firm up the icing.
  2. Wrap the entire cake tightly with plastic, making sure to reduce all air bubbles.
  3. Put cake in cake box (provided) and wrap the outside of the cake box with plastic.
  4. Put entire wrapped box in freezer

Helpful hints when ready to eat preserved wedding cake

  1. Remove plastic from the box and cake.
  2. Thaw cake in refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  3. Remove cake from refrigerator and leave at room temperature for 2 more hours.
  4. Slice and enjoy.
